Things to know to care for your Cat Grass

Does my Cat Grass need direct sun?

DO NOT put your cat grass in the direct sun. The cat grass will do best in the muted natural sunlight that is normally in your home. No need to put it in a window.

When is the grass ready to give to my cat?

Keep your new cat grass away from your cat until it grows to about 3” -4” tall. This will give the grass a chance established.

How Tall should I let my Cat Grass get?

Do not let your cat grass get above about 5” tall. The grass will start to go to seed if you let it grow too tall. To trim, take scissors and trim the top off the grass. You can put the trimmings in your cat’s food, dog’s food or into your compost bin.

What should I do if my cat eats the grass down very low?

Your cat grass needs at least 1” of green grass above the soil to continue to grow. If your cat eats it down to 1” then take it away from your cat for a couple of days. The grass will grow back quickly. When it grows to about 3” give it back to your cat.

If your cat eats it down regularly then you should consider one of our bigger gardens or get a second garden.

What happens when the grass starts to turn brown?

You Cat Grass has a life span of a couple of months to several months depending on the style you have. When you r grass turns brown you can empty the planter and get one of our refill packages.
